Angizaar 25mg Tablet contains losartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker that relaxes blood vessels and reduces blood pressure. It is used to treat high blood pressure, reduce the risk of stroke in people with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, protect the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes and proteinuria, and manage heart failure.
Who is it for
This medicine is for adults with high blood pressure, people with type 2 diabetes who have kidney disease, and patients with heart failure. It is not usually used in children under 6 years except under specialist supervision. Use with caution if you have liver or kidney problems, are dehydrated, or have heart valve or electrolyte disorders. Do not take losartan if you are pregnant, and consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding. People taking diuretics or who have salt depletion may need a lower starting dose.
Dosage
For most adults with hypertension, the usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily and the maintenance dose ranges from 25 mg to 100 mg once daily. Older adults or those taking diuretics may start at 25 mg once daily. To protect the kidneys in diabetic nephropathy, start with 50 mg once daily and increase to 100 mg once daily if advised. For heart failure, the dose may start as low as 12.5 mg once daily and increase up to 150 mg once daily under medical supervision. Always follow your doctor’s instructions as the pharmacist may adjust the dose for your individual needs.
